 ADVOCACY
Heartland Independent Business Association was founded in March of 2023 to fulfill its vision of driving policy to increase entrepreneurship and grow small businesses to make Nebraska the best place to start a small business.

Promoting entrepreneurship alone is not enough to strengthen the overall economy and growth of the state. To attract more people and improve the state’s quality of life, it’s crucial to focus on promoting high-quality entrepreneurship. However, developing programs and incentives is not sufficient. These initiatives must be well-managed and effectively implemented in coordination with all relevant entrepreneurship and small business development agencies throughout the state, both private and public.

Our plans include the following:

  1. HIBA’s development efforts across the state are strategically coordinated, and include cities, counties, chambers, state agencies, universities, private agencies, and the Heartland Independent Business Association working together.

  2. We recognize the many diverse economies of the state and work to advance business that drives the economies of each geographical region.

Advocacy
HIBA advocates for policies that benefit our members and the business community. These efforts include supporting lower taxes, reduced regulations, and increased access to capital, among other things. These policy changes will create a more favorable business environment, increasing economic activity and growth.

Collaboration
Collaboration is needed among Government, Universities, and the private sector. Why? Many organizations, educational institutions, and government agencies work in silos to recruit, promote, and advance small businesses. HIBA works with all areas involved to have a centralized information hub for startups, current small businesses, and corporations interested in evaluating Nebraska’s economic and industry diversity.

Education and Training
HIBA provides education, training, and development geared towards raising a general level of competence towards the successful path from new ideas to opening doors. We provide networks for mentorship, accounting practices, and day-to-day business operations.

Networking, Marketing, and Promotion
HIBA provides members with the opportunity to network with other small businesses, provides resources for marketing best practices and promotes the vibrant small business community throughout the state to all who want to do business in Nebraska.
